Volunteering Programs

The Faculty of Dentistry at Qassim University has completed its seventh convoy of its pioneering program called Voluntary Dental Caravans, which landed for five consecutive days in the village of Al-Thumad in the Medina region, which is 650 km away from the Qassim region, as an extension of the tenders of the caravans inside the Kingdom.

The beneficiaries of the caravan carried out by the students of the college throughout the days of the mid-semester vacation of the second semester, reached more than 750 references and reviews in five basic specialties including nerve treatment, periodontal treatment, surgery, fillings, pediatric dentistry, and preventive dentistry, through more than ten specialized clinics supervised by (60) volunteer students representing Qassim University and a number of students of Saudi universities in addition to a group of doctors and consultants, The Taibah Doctors Charitable Society also participated in this convoy by providing all its medical equipment and vehicles, which included an equipped dental clinic, a preliminary examination clinic, and a car to transport people with special needs. In order to complete all services, the convoy allowed the participation of human medicine students at Qassim University to take a history of illness, pressure and diabetes to avoid any complications that the reviewer may experience during treatment.

The convoy also dedicated an entire section to education and awareness, which targeted the villagers by explaining the most prominent wrong and harmful eating habits to the teeth and the correct ways to clean and care for teeth, in addition to the application of fluoride to 250 children and girls that helps prevent caries.

In an enriching gesture of the convoy, students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Qassim University participated in an accompanying awareness corner that included several information about medicines, their harms and methods of use.

The university ended its regular participation in the Hajj season this year, where the students of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at the university participated in the Kingdom's project to benefit from the gift and sacrifice of the slaughterhouse of Me'aisem IV, in addition to the participation of the university's mobile in providing voluntary services to pilgrims of the Holy House of Allah.

The number of participating students from the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine reached 30 students, under the supervision of a faculty member specialized in meat health and safety in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, from the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah until the end of the Hajj work on the thirteenth of the same month, where they received and examined all camels and cows coming to the slaughterhouse, and determined their suitability for consumption, by making sure that they are free of diseases.

The students also conducted a medical examination of all animals coming to the slaughterhouse, allowing only animals that are legitimately and veterinarily fragmented, in addition to being tasked with conducting routine examination of carcasses through slaughter lines allocated to students of the Department of Veterinary Medicine in order to establish the validity of carcasses for human consumption.

While the university touring provided many services to pilgrims of the Holy House of Allah, through its participation in the volunteer scouting team in the Qassim region, in addition to its participation in two teams of its students in educating, guiding and assisting pilgrims of the Holy House of Allah in performing rituals and moving between feelings easily and easily.

The convoy includes 13 specialized clinics distributed among men and women, including two surgical clinics, two clinics for fillers and gums, two clinics dedicated to children, 4 examination clinics and a radiology clinic, where the university is keen through such awareness programs to provide quality services that benefit the community in remote areas that need such different programs throughout the year, saving them effort and money while ensuring the quality of services provided to them.

The program of dental caravans, which is run by the university throughout the year, aims to provide its services to the people of various governorates, serve the remote villages of the region, and deliver the necessary therapeutic services according to the best standards, in addition to providing all services that contribute to raising the health awareness of the people of the province regarding oral and dental health, and the therapeutic services that the caravan will provide to the people of the governorate men and women include: "Fillers, surgery, periodontal treatment and pediatric dentistry, as well as health education and medical consultations for beneficiaries.

As for health education services for the people of the governorate, the volunteer convoys will raise awareness among all ages and segments about how to maintain oral and dental health, by explaining the proper way to use the toothbrush, as well as distributing "brochures" that contain important information for each individual about the steps to be adhered to to maintain daily dental integrity.

The University Rovers, as usual every year, participates in the service of pilgrims of the Holy House of Allah in the Holy Sites, where two teams of the University Rovers joined the public service camps for the Hajj season of 1440 AH, each band of 16 students, within the Arafat Scout Camp, in which 53 entities from all over the Kingdom participate, divided into 28 entities in the guidance centers and 25 parties participating in the delegation of pilgrims to Jamarat.

For his part, Dr. Ali Al-Aqla, Dean of Student Affairs, explained that the university, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, was keen to qualify students participating in the service of pilgrims of the Holy House of Allah, so that they can contribute to their service as hoped, pointing out that the university's participation extends over fifteen days in the holy sites, with the encouragement and support of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Daoud, Rector of the University.

He pointed out that the excellence shown by the university's mobile teams in the past years in the field of serving pilgrims in the Holy Sites has allowed them to participate in two teams this year with 32 students, pointing out that the university has been qualifying about 150 students annually in the scouting activity to participate in all seasonal work, whether inside or outside the Qassim region, in addition to external participations, in the belief of the university in its multiple roles in community service, stressing that the most important of these The volunteer events in which students compete to participate are to serve the guests of the Holy House of Allah from visitors and pilgrims.

The Dean of Student Affairs pointed out that the university has already participated in two teams of its students also in the blessed month of Ramadan, and received many awards for the excellence of its students in performing the service roles assigned to them, where the university received the Golden Shield (first place) in the exceptional programs in the camp, as well as the Silver Shield (second place) for the best headquarters, and the Golden Shield (first place) for the best service on campus.

The Deanship held a number of meetings with students to identify and provide them with their needs, where a command and control center was established to manage this crisis, under which 15 committees and a club for mobile in the student housing and a volunteer club to provide all services to these students, and set daily points of contact between beneficiaries and service providers, to provide all the requirements and daily needs for them, and allocated a number for emergencies around the clock, and sought to deport those who want to travel, where it has deported 900 students so far and is continuing with deportations after coordination With the relevant authorities, all preventive measures and precautionary measures have been taken in accordance with the instructions received from the competent authorities to face this crisis and overcome its negative effects.

During the crisis, the university's housing department provided all the requirements for housing and follow-up maintenance work, and sought to provide the basic requirements for students from bringing tools outside the housing, and the roving also conducted a daily survey on the external and internal buildings of the suites, through their presence and housing inside the university to provide service around the clock, in addition to following up about 7 buildings inside the university, and following up the process of entering and exiting buildings, and making sure that there are no cases infected or suspected of being infected in some buildings.

For its part, the volunteer club contributed to the delivery of food items to each pavilion inside the pavilions of the buildings, and the provision of 3 meals with a total of 1800 meals per day to all students, where the volunteer student provides these meals and puts them inside the food containers to deliver them to students, according to models and numbers scheduled and accurate for each building, suite and room.

The medical department worked 24 hours a day during the crisis in coordination with the Command and Control Center, to provide treatment and medical consultations for all pathological cases, facilitate the access of students to the clinic and return to their rooms, dispense treatment and deliver medicines to the beneficiaries, and daily follow-up of all students with continuous examination inside their rooms, in addition to the presence of the clinic of the Ministry of Health in the student residence.

In turn, the Nutrition Department continued to secure successive meals and follow them closely inside the kitchen through specialists to ensure food safety and the number of meals that come out according to a specific schedule for all buildings and food delivery.
