The dedicated scientific seminars were launched at the conference "The Role of Saudi Universities in Activating Vision 2030" organized by Qassim University, where the first symposium was held under the title "Educational Paths in Universities and Vision 2030", chaired by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Fuhaid, Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), and with the participation of Dr. Abdullah Al-Moussa, Acting Rector of the Saudi Electronic University, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Affairs, and Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Daoud, Professor at Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University. .

The Chairman of the session, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Fuhaid, Governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), stressed the importance of the role of universities in educational institutions in activating Vision 2030, as they are responsible for the future, raising new generations and providing the professional and scientific cadres required to build the country and achieve progress and prosperity.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Moosa, Acting Rector of the Saudi Electronic University, presented a scientific paper entitled "E-learning is a strategic choice to achieve the national vision", in which he reviewed the role of e-learning during recent years in the educational sector and its flow with the developments and technology we are experiencing in our time, indicating that e-learning is an opportunity in the application of public policies for communication and information technology in universities capable of supporting their organizational adaptation to digital requirements, and providing continuous education for students that would contribute to the Developing their skills better, especially those associated with meeting the needs of the production of the knowledge economy, pointing out that the role of e-learning in achieving the national vision is based on four axes that lie in ensuring equitable and inclusive quality education for all and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all, working to improve educational curricula and the quality of educational system results and achieving educational reform, helping to develop skills and prepare competencies for the world of work and the diversity of life skills, and achieve lasting environmental sustainability in all education platforms.

Al-Moosa spoke about the experience of the Saudi Electronic University, which takes the student as a strategic partner, relying on the blended learning policy that blends the two systems of distance education and direct attendance. He explained the technical components, electronic educational platforms and human cadres owned by the university, and provided a number of graphs in the acceptance rates during the past years.

He also stressed that education plays an important role in maintaining economic and productive growth by relying on investment in and use of ICTs, pointing out that this is due to its direct relationship with the innovation processes of industries responsible for building knowledge, and its importance in enabling employees in all economic sectors to use digital technologies effectively, as well as developing the capabilities of individuals to manage, transfer and use knowledge productively.

Al-Moussa pointed out that recently witnessed a remarkable growth in the trend of students to e-learning, explaining that despite the novelty of the Saudi Electronic University, which has not been established for more than five years, but the percentages of students with a high school that you prefer to join prove that the future is moving towards increasing dependence on it, where the percentage of students admitted to the university in the first year was 2.18% of those who obtained a high school, but it rose this year to reach To more than 53%, the e-University has become the number one university in the options of students with a high school diploma in the Kingdom.

The Rector of the e-University also explained that e-learning is characterized by its lower costs than regular education, as it saves time and effort, so the student can receive his education anywhere and anytime without being bound by lecture dates, and the system of study schedules, and the guarantee of quality enforcement in the e-learning system is easier, faster and pays greater fruits compared to its application in other universities.

While Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Educational Affairs, stressed that the talk about the role of Saudi universities in achieving Vision 2030, has come at the right time, which must be done by all educational bodies in their role in achieving the ambitious future vision of the Queen in 2030, pointing out that the Ministry of Education has prepared many ideas and visions to develop the scientific and research process in the Kingdom, and many initiatives are still in the process of study and continuous development.

Al-Ohali explained that the Ministry seeks to provide the needs and requirements of the labor market in the next stage of the required professions, and the scientifically and practically qualified cadres, by developing its educational services at all stages, in order to ensure the desired quality of the educational process, stressing that the Ministry is developing its future plans according to the expected numbers of male and female students.

Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Daoud, Professor at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, also presented a working paper on the relationship of universities to the activation of Vision 2030, stressing that the vision was built on expansion, quality, excellence and assimilation, and this is what universities achieve, demanding the need to support scientific research, develop the performance of faculty members and curricula, and link scientific research programs, and graduate studies with universities with the problems of the environment and society, in addition to the participation of universities in decision-making in society.

Al-Daoud also called for the international dimension of academic programs and scientific research to prepare graduates to work in a global market in which the borders between countries in terms of information have faded.

The Supreme Organizing Committee of the conference "The Role of Saudi Universities in Activating Vision 2030", to be held at the university headquarters in the middle of next month, continued its preparatory meetings under the chairmanship of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Daoud, Rector of the University and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Conference, in order to determine the readiness of the university and its preparations to receive this major event, which is one of the largest gatherings in the history of Saudi universities, in addition to distributing tasks to the specialized committees emanating from the Supreme Committee.

For his part, the Rector of the University, Al-Daoud, expressed his full confidence in the ability of the University to organize such an important event, stressing that the University has all the human and academic capabilities to bring out the conference in a manner that befits the status of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its ancient universities.

He added that the conference aims to address the roles and tasks that public and private universities should play to ensure the activation of the objectives of Vision 2030 and its initiative, based on the role that universities should play towards the vision project and its development programs.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Baridi, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, stressed that the Committee received more than 70 research participations prepared by more than 100 researchers from various universities of the Kingdom, including multiple studies and research that present its vision in how to develop and develop the path of education, scientific research and community service in the Kingdom, which are the main purposes of universities, pointing out that this diversity will have a positive impact in activating the contents of Vision 2030 in the context of university activities, programs and strategic and executive plans.

As for the parties participating in the conference, Al-Baridi pointed out that the number of public and private universities whose participation has been confirmed so far has reached about 18 entities, waiting for this number to increase in the next few days, as well as participation from the Ministry of Education and other ministries, which is an indication of the interaction with this important conference.

Al-Baridi stressed that the Scientific Committee has begun to judge the research contributions submitted to it, and filter them so that the most important and valuable scientific to discuss in the scientific seminars to be held during the conference with the participation of officials in the relevant bodies of the conference topic, and experts in higher education, which will enrich the dialogue and discussion, and then the recommendations that will be prepared at the end of the conference, and are handed over to the competent authorities in order to activate them in accordance with the approved mechanisms.

HRH Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Qassim Province, and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Center for Sustainable Development at Qassim University, chaired the first meeting of the Council on Monday afternoon at the University's headquarters. In a press statement, His Highness praised the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to establish this center, which is the first of its kind at the level of Saudi universities as a civilizational nucleus that foresees the prospects of the future. His Highness described the center as a solid bridge that is concerned with serving the community developmentally and considered it a precedent recorded for Qassim University, which is taking concrete steps in the field of contributing to sustainable development.

The Director of the Center for Sustainable Development, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Harbi, also gave an overview of sustainable development in the world, explaining that it emerged in the late twentieth century and began with the United Nations Conference held in Sweden in 1972 under the name of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Man, and then stressed at the Third United Nations Conference held in South Africa in 2002 under the name of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development that economic and social development must not destroy the environment, and that meeting the needs of the present must It does not prejudice the ability of the environment to meet the needs of the future, pointing out that sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without neglecting to secure the needs of future generations, as it is interested in the economic, social and environmental dimensions as a new and important way out of the development crisis in both the developed and developing countries of the world, stressing that the role of the Center for Sustainable Development will work to study the development environment of the Qassim region to determine the requirements and priorities of development, This helps to define a clear development identity for the region, by identifying the competitive advantages of the region and thus enabling it to crystallize huge development projects that are supported by the highest government agencies.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Baridi reviewed the vision, mission and objectives of the Center as a leading national house of expertise in sustainable local development, concerned with providing high-quality research, consulting, training, information and awareness services, which contribute to activating and integrating sustainable development efforts in Qassim and achieving its goals and enhancing its competitive advantages, consolidating partnership nationally and internationally, and diversifying self-financing for development events; according to a comprehensive strategic development perspective, reviewing the values of the Center, which are represented in absolute transparency in reading reality in its various fields, in addition to innovation and quality. His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, received the honorary shield from His Excellency the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Eng. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Suwayan, during the announcement of the Digital Government Authority on the results of measuring digital transformation 2022.
