Encouraging applications by women in subjects where they are underrepresented

The University, represented by the Vice Rectorate for Female Student Affairs, intends to organize a conference to support the role of Saudi women in achieving Vision 2030 socially, politically and economically, under the title "Saudi Women and Leading Change. Determination and leadership", in the period from 10 to 11/2/1441 AH, with the aim of highlighting the challenges facing Saudi women in the decision-making position, developing awareness of women's issues in their personal, social and economic aspects, as well as achieving a balanced vision of women's issues in the media.

This conference comes out of the University's keenness to show the leading role of women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its research and scientific papers, based on the interest of the Islamic religion in women and their rights in all areas of life, and in light of the great care that the Kingdom attaches to women and their affairs, and the doors of leadership provided to them to highlight their successes in various fields.

The conference discusses three axes; the first axis deals with Saudi women and decision-making, through Saudi women and the concept of empowerment, women in leadership positions, psychological and social balance of women and its impact on their leadership role, the second axis deals with Saudi women and the economy, through economic opportunities for women under Vision 2030, Saudi women's initiatives and their impact on investment competition, and the successes and achievements of women, and the third axis deals with the media and Saudi women, and discusses the role of the media in highlighting the status of women To achieve Vision 2030, the role of the media in supporting Saudi women's issues, in addition to the mental image reflected by the media about Saudi women.

The Scientific Committee of the Conference also announced the rules of participation, namely: that the researcher submit a brief curriculum vitae, and that the research should be within the themes of the conference, while adhering to the controls of scientific research, and that the research should not be published or submitted for publication, and the research should not be less than (20) pages and not more than (35) pages, with the adoption of a font (Arabic Traditional) size (16) for the research submitted in WORD format.

Within the framework of its activation of International Women's Day, the university celebrated its female staff, to express the appreciation of the university in all its components for the great role played by women within the university as partners in development and development alongside men, as the university includes among its sides more than 200 leaders who manage faculties, deanships, departments and departments of the university, 1577 faculty members, 1194 administrative staff, as well as 10 members of the university council, in addition to more than 40 thousand students in various stages of study (bachelor - diploma - Master - PhD).

On this occasion, the university, represented by the Vision 2030 Realization Club, at the Deanship of Student Affairs, held on Monday evening, an educational meeting entitled "Saudi Women's Leadership", presented "remotely" by Dr. Ashwaq bint Saleh Al-Shuraida, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation, and student Hajar bint Salim Al-Harbi, member of the Vision 2030 Realization Club, and the meeting was moderated by student Shahd Abdul Rahman Al-Mazyad.

The meeting discussed the role of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in empowering women, the stage of women's empowerment in light of the historical gains they obtained during the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, women's leadership platforms and power and access programs, in addition to the role of women in entrepreneurship and women's entrepreneurship in the past and now.

For her part, Dr. Ashwaq Al-Sherida spoke about the role of women in building society, and that women are the basis of the formation and development of society, and the most important pillars of the family and its construction, stressing that women are half of society but the whole society, and in the labor market, politics, medicine and finally volunteer work, in addition to the role of women in the family and education and their importance in the home and the containment of children.

The student Hajar Al-Harbi also stressed the role of university students in volunteer work and activities inside and outside the university, and the distinctive and positive impact this has on the university community and the outside community, adding that women have a great role in achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which is based on three main pillars, including: "A vibrant society - a thriving economy - an ambitious homeland," stressing that women's community participation is a key part in the development of a vibrant society.

In turn, the Community Service Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at the University, represented by the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (Female Section), held on Monday a remote awareness event within the framework of the activation of International Women's Day entitled "Your Health and Beauty in Your Food" with the participation of a number of specialists.

This program aims to:

  • Providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate their inherent talents and to acquire practical skills through their practice and responsibility and increase their self-confidence.

  • Providing opportunities for students to earn a financial income to overcome the financial problems that hinder the completion of university studies due to the interruption of the university reward to help him continue his education or the existence of financial obligations that require the provision of other income. As part of its contribution to solving many of the obstacles faced by women in order to learn to drive, the university continues to carry out construction work to establish a driving school for women within the university city of Al-Meida, within the framework of the plan set and the specified timings, where the design was completed, the introduction of a brochure of the conditions and specifications of construction, and the design of training fields to mimic the best international practices to qualify female driving trainees.

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Daoud, Rector of Qassim University, directed the establishment of a university-owned institution that establishes, operates and manages a driving school for women, following the signing of an agreement between the university and the Kingdom's Traffic Department to establish the school.

This step comes within the University's efforts to achieve the fourth strategic goal, which is to serve issues related to women and the family, because of its positive social and economic results, especially since this service will contribute to achieving ease of movement and mobility for women, to reach their work or place of education.

The General Supervisor of the Establishment of the Driving School, Dr. Majid Al-Anzi, confirmed that the agreement with the Traffic Department provided for the establishment of the school and its operation within 6 months, where work is under way to establish the building with a total area of 1800 meters, and the designs of the training fields, which are estimated at about 30,000 square meters and contain 18 traffic skills, have been completed.

Al-Enazi pointed out that the school will be provided with the best driving simulators dedicated to simulating the traffic driving experience, where simulation lessons will be provided using a device that simulates the driving of the real car, and consists of all the parts that make up it inside the car such as the driver's seat, steering wheel, control panel, power key, and seat belt and surrounds the passenger with screens that display interactive virtual reality that simulates a large number of scenarios that the driver may be exposed to under conditions Different air and geography and the device gives its instructions to the passenger interactively and shows the commander the mistakes he has made.

Al-Enazi added that the location of the school was chosen to be on campus in order to take advantage of the internal roads of the campus and use them in the future to train trainees in a safe environment, as the university intends to attract certified driving trainers from official bodies to practice the activity in order to provide the best services to the trainees, where the university emphasizes its keenness to apply the best international specifications for driving schools and provide distinctive and accredited training programs.

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Daoud, Rector of Qassim University, praised the decision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz - may Allah protect him - on Tuesday, to apply the provisions of the Traffic Law and its Executive Regulations, including the issuance of driving licenses for males and females alike, taking into account the Sharia controls stipulated by our true Islamic religion, where the decree specified several conditions that must be met to allow women in the Kingdom to drive.

Al-Daoud stressed that the decision came to remove many of the obstacles faced by women, and their suffering in providing the appropriate means of transport, especially in light of the expansion of the employment of women in many government and private jobs.

His Excellency explained that the role of Saudi women is increasing day by day in participating in the renaissance and development of the Kingdom in all social, economic and scientific fields, where the numbers of girls enrolled in various universities in the past few years have increased significantly, and have competed with men in several scientific and practical fields, and even surpassed them, which emphasizes the need to give them the full opportunity to participate more in building the future of our dear homeland.

He pointed out that the decision to grant women the right to drive will reflect positively on society economically and socially and that the lofty decision and the expected positives of allowing them to do so in accordance with the application of the necessary Sharia controls and adherence to them, where it is no secret to one of the negatives seen in the abundance of drivers of the Kingdom, and the suffering of women in their movements between home and work and access to hospitals and universities.

He added that the culture of society at the current stage and the awareness and awareness of women's rights reached by its members thanks to the high level of education and openness to other Muslim societies granted this decision social acceptance, ensuring with the conciliation of Allah that there are no problems in implementation, especially with the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz - supported by God - to form a high committee of the Ministries of Interior, Finance, Labor and Social Development to study and make the necessary arrangements for the implementation of the decision in accordance with the approved Sharia and regulatory controls.

Dr. Al-Daoud concluded his statement by asking Allah for repayment and success to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in the interest of the country and society under the approach of this blessed state based on the provisions of the tolerant Islamic Sharia.
